Open'er Festival 2012

One of the biggest music events this summer will surely be the Heineken Open'er. Every year the Polish organizers attract the best artists from around the world. This year the festival will run from 4 to 7 July. Where? Like every year it’s Kosakowo airport in Gdynia. We already know the first performers.

The first announced was probably known by all, the artist from Iceland - Björk. Her concerts are not just music, it's also a fascinating spectacle. Another proven performer is the band The XX in the UK. We are in January, so it is only the beginning of the festival fill the guest list. This further encouraged to visit Gdynia in July. Not only concert will be attraction, all the surrounding areas turn on those three days in a colorful, artistic estate. Choosing there is good to have a tent (as a place for camping, unfortunately you have to pay).

The duration and variety of music makes it one of the most expensive holiday festivals. Ticket prices start from 165 PLN and 410 PLN ends at. Sure is a lot like the student budget, but certainly it will not be wasted money. Yet every year there is no shortage of willing not, and sometimes not even enough for all.

Rock in Szczecin

Not on every big events you must wait to summer. If you want to proof here it is – Rock in Szczecin Festival. 31^st march (Saturday) in Szczecin (community center “Słowianka”) will appear trash metal and rock bands from whole Poland. Name of the fest reminds famous Rock in Rio, but is not so big and known event. I’m sure that is good alternative for those who are bored of what we hear every day in our radio speakers. Maybe not everyone likes heavy sounds like this, but many students from Poland will answer on organizer invitation. Promises to be interesting. Despite the fact that this is one of the smallest event in Poland you can interest in that because of one good reason. There is only a few fests before summer exams session. We can choose at him without fear of examination dates. In the first part of the event will be announced the teams taking part in the contest to win a recording contract. These are the groups: KaAtaKilla (Lodz), Xanthe (Poznan), Mortis Dei (Bydgoszcz), Mastema (Szczecin), Othis (Koszalin). Among the invited guests will find in bands such as Quo Vadis (thrash metal) Rebel House (classic rock). After announcing the results of the competition on stage May special guests appear, yet we do not know exactly who it is. For sure this team will be familiar to most, if not the entire audience. Tickets are not expensive, costing only 20 zł. Perhaps this is due to the fact that the festival lasts only one day. It is a good chance that in a single weekend to know the city and on the occasion to watch the city.

Ursynalia 2012

In Warsaw (on SGGW campus), from 1st to 3rd of June 2012, will take place one of the biggest student’s event in Poland – Ursynalia. Students from whole Poland (and even some from Europe) are interested in joining this event. Last year on stage of the festival performed rock stars like Korn or Guano Apes.

But not only rock fans can find something for themselves. There were also polish bands, like Afromental or Jamal. Organizers assure that Ursynalia 2012 will be just as interesting as a year before. “Slayer” band has already confirmed their performance on this year festival.  

But not only music events are prepared. Last year you could try yourself in sport competition or get relax on funfair. What else this year? You should see for yourself! Unfortunately there is a bad news too.

If you want to take part in this fest you must pay. Prices of the tickets are varied: for SGWW students it’s 29zł, students from different universities must pay 69 zł, the rest that want to join the event need to pay 99 zł (and this price is only valid in promotion time).
